About The Position
The Steam Plant Supervisor serves as an operator and shift supervisor in the steam plant at Piedmont Correctional Institution, a medium-security male prison facility in Salisbury, North Carolina, housing 800 offenders. The employee starts and shuts down boilers, monitors operational readings, and makes adjustments as needed. The position reports to the facility Maintenance Supervisor.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in the operation and routine maintenance of large, complex steam boilers, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Working knowledge of the operation of boilers and related equipment.
- Working knowledge of the maintenance requirements of boilers and related equipment.
- Physical strength sufficient to perform heavy physical tasks on a periodic basis.
Responsibilities
- Direct and train staff.
- Monitor systems and perform routine repairs.
- Conduct water analysis and chemical treatment.
- Perform safety checks, testing, and compliance activities.
- Record steam output, fuel consumption, and operational readings.
- Start and shut down boilers, monitor operational readings, and make adjustments as needed.
