About The Position
Reporting to the Correctional Food Service Manager, this position is in the Food Services Department at a medium-custody male correctional facility. The supervisor oversees food service employees and offender workers involved in large-scale food production and supervises the preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets. The role includes planning and directing daily meal preparation and service, maintaining accurate records, using computerized food and nutrition systems, and conducting employee work appraisals. Work also involves food preparation, serving, storage, menu planning and substitutions, and maintaining sanitation requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and three years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, management of commercial food service operations, or as a Correctional Officer; alternatively, two years as a Correctional Food Service Officer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
Nice To Haves
- Documented experience in sanitation, menu preparation, inventory management, and/or other large-scale food service production activities.
- Documented experience supervising employees and/or offender workers.
