About The Position

This is a position at Marion Correctional Institution located in Marion, North Carolina (McDowell County). Marion Correctional Institution is a Close-custody prison housing male offenders. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 793 offenders. Reporting to the Correctional Programs Director, this position is responsible for providing and supervising programs for the rehabilitation of offenders. The primary programs areas are offender classification; correctional programs including educational/vocational, volunteer programs, religion, and recreation, and correctional counseling.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a human services or criminal justice field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in corrections or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
Pass a criminal background check
Produce a negative drug screening result
Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
Possess a valid driver’s license
