About The Position

Franklin Correctional Center is in Bunn, NC, Franklin County and is a medium custody male facility housing approximately 480 offenders. Special programs at this facility include Enterprise Sign Plant, High School Equivalency, Employment Readiness, Adult Outreach Correspondence, Thinking for a Change, Father Accountability, Commercial Driving License, Business, Hospitality, Commercial Cleaning, Industrial Maintenance, Logistics and Distribution, Computer Application. Job Duties Included: Provide and supervise programs for the rehabilitation of offenders in the prison system. Positions at this level are accountable for the development, implementation, and maintenance of total programs activities for offenders of the smaller prison facilities, or are accountable for development, implementation, and maintenance of one or more major and broad programs for offenders at a large facility or institution. Work involves considerable contact with community agencies to enrich programs, establish new programs, and to conduct work release investigations, if relevant. This role is also responsible for coordinating programs activities with custody and other facility staff.

Requirements

  • Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Produce a negative drug screening result
  • Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services or criminal justice field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in corrections or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented knowledge of internal and/or external services available to offenders.
  • Documented 12 months (1 year) of correctional program experience.
  • Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments
