About The Position

Washington State University, External Affairs and Government Relations is hiring for a State Relations Administrative Assistant in Olympia, Washington. You will play a vital role as the primary administrative point of contact supporting the Senior Director of State Relations, Director of Seattle and Regional Relations, and Assistant Director of State Relations. In this position, you will manage complex and confidential matters while engaging with a wide range of internal and external partners, including WSU units across campuses statewide, as well as federal, state, county, and local government agencies and community stakeholders. You will contribute to the success of the State Relations and Seattle and Regional Relations offices by coordinating schedules, planning and facilitating legislative and stakeholder visits, preparing briefing materials, and managing calendars and travel logistics. Your work will also include processing reimbursements, assisting with budget tracking, supporting event planning and execution, and ensuring timely follow-up on stakeholder engagements. Additionally, you will help organize meetings and maintain accurate records of policy-related activities. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of clerical, office or administrative experience; OR one (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 1; OR Equivalent education/experience.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing complex administrative oversight and assistance to an office, preferable in a higher education, public sector or government relations environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with software programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
