About The Position

Create the Starbucks experience for Food City shoppers by providing prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. The Barista takes customer orders, prepares and serves Starbucks products, processes register transactions, and provides friendly, knowledgeable service while following recipe, product-quality, food-safety, and equipment procedures. The role requires attending scheduled on-site shifts and following company time and attendance policies.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks.
• Ability to interact regularly with individuals at various levels.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and follow company time and attendance policies.

Nice To Haves

• Food service or coffee experience is a plus, but is not required.
• Ability to learn how to mix a wide variety of coffee and tea products.
• Ability to learn the ingredients used in various products.
• Ability to work with Starbucks ingredients, including coffees, teas, spices, nuts, flavorings, sauces, and oils.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and courteous customer service in support of the company mission.
• Take customer orders and ensure they are completed promptly and to customers’ satisfaction.
• Prepare, bag, pour, and stock Starbucks products, rotating items to maintain product quality and safety.
• Maintain a positive and friendly attitude toward customers and fellow associates.
• Engage with customers by providing product information, using suggestive selling techniques, and sampling products.
• Process cash register transactions using the POS system.
• Consistently provide quality beverages, whole-bean coffee, and food products by following recipe and presentation standards.
• Represent the culture, values, and mission of Food City and Starbucks with integrity, honesty, and knowledge.
• Operate tools and equipment while following routine and safety procedures.
• Follow the company food-safety program and food-handling procedures.
• Attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and follow company time and attendance policies.
