About The Position

Create the Starbucks experience for Food City shoppers by providing prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment. The Barista prepares Starbucks beverages and food products according to recipe and presentation standards, serves customers courteously, and supports the missions and values of Food City and Starbucks. The role requires on-site attendance during scheduled shifts and adherence to company time, attendance, food-safety, food-handling, and equipment-safety procedures.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks.
• Ability to interact and maintain contact with individuals at various levels on a daily basis.
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Nice To Haves

• Food-service or coffee experience is a plus, but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and courteous customer service in support of the company mission.
• Take customer orders and ensure they are completed promptly and to the customers’ satisfaction.
• Prepare, bag, pour, and stock Starbucks products, rotating items to maintain quality and safety.
• Maintain a positive and friendly attitude toward customers and fellow associates.
• Engage with customers by providing product information, using suggestive selling techniques, and sampling products.
• Process cash-register transactions using the POS system.
• Consistently provide quality beverages, whole-bean coffee, and food products by following recipe and presentation standards.
• Represent the culture, values, and mission of Food City and Starbucks with integrity, honesty, and knowledge.
• Operate tools and equipment while following routine and safety procedures.
• Follow the company food-safety program and food-handling procedures.
• Attend on-site work during scheduled shifts and follow company time and attendance policies.
