About The Position

The Standworker/Barista performs concessions and cash operations, with primary responsibility for greeting guests, serving food and beverages, setting up and stocking concession stands, carts, and portables, maintaining accurate counts, and collecting payment for all items served. The role supports event and convention service at Saint Paul RiverCentre in a dynamic, fast-paced culinary environment. The employee may prepare front-of-house foods such as pretzels, salads, and sandwiches, and may set up and break down concession stands, portables, deli carts, espresso bar dining tables, and equipment. The position includes cleaning and sanitation duties and requires compliance with applicable food quality, sanitation, and safety regulations. This is an on-call union position with varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. The listed pay is $17.37 per hour.

Requirements

Availability to work nights and weekends as needed.
Ability to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time and reposition oneself to move about.
Ability to frequently operate and use food and beverage tools and equipment and communicate with guests, employees, and management.
Ability to frequently move up to 42 pounds.
Specific vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Alcohol service certification, or ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
Food handling certification, or ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Greet guests, take orders, serve food and beverages, total receipts, and collect payments.
Request proper identification from guests purchasing alcoholic beverages when their legal age is questionable, including guests who appear to be under 30.
Stock and maintain supplies, refrigerators, dispensers, and display cases; replace soda and CO2 tanks as needed to avoid interruptions in guest service.
Transport soiled dishes and glassware to kitchen and concession breakdown stations.
Sweep and mop floors.
Prepare front-of-house foods such as pretzels, salads, and sandwiches, as needed.
Set up and break down concession stands, portables, deli carts, espresso bar dining tables, and equipment.
Complete duties on checklists, including cleaning duties.
Comply with company and local, state, and national regulations related to food quality, sanitation, and safety.
Complete other duties as assigned.
