About The Position
Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring alignment with strategic roadmaps. The team advances Walmart US Payroll systems through innovative design, enhancement, and maintenance. Collaborating across functions, members support payroll transformation to ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery for a large workforce. The group emphasizes scalable solutions, system performance optimization, and resolving complex challenges. Utilizing Agile methodology and SAP expertise, the team drives continuous improvement and operational excellence. It fosters a professional environment focused on business goals, leveraging technical skills such as API design, DevOps, and cloud-native architecture, while maintaining high standards in software development and project management to support Walmart’s mission.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and platform development to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
- Ability to conduct system design reviews and apply technical judgment to ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
- Skilled in debugging, problem solving, and data-driven decision making to optimize engineering outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and fostering continuous learning and innovation.
- Effective collaboration skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders for successful project delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements and track success metrics.
