About The Position
Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring technical excellence through design reviews and mentoring. Requirements
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong software development skills across the full lifecycle, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
- Experience in platform engineering, infrastructure tooling, and AI/ML integration using languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, and C++.
- Ability to conduct system design reviews and apply software design patterns for secure, maintainable, and modular solutions.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions for long-term sustainability.
- Proficient in data-driven decision making, debugging, and requirements analysis to optimize engineering outcomes.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
- Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote standardization and sustainability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement through code quality reviews, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
