About The Position

As a Staff Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software development lifecycle with a focus on cloud-native architecture and AI/ML integration. The Marketplace Engineering team develops core platforms and services that empower Walmart to offer extensive product selection at competitive prices with exceptional customer experience. The team manages the entire seller lifecycle, monitors customer interactions, and delivers valuable insights to help sellers optimize assortment, pricing, and inventory. Collaborating closely with partner platform teams, they ensure seamless integration and continuous enhancement of the marketplace platform. This team leverages expertise in platform design, API development, and cloud-native architecture to drive innovation and maintain high-quality, scalable solutions that support Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and platform development to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
  • Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
  • Ability to mentor engineers and influence technical decisions promoting standardization and long-term sustainability.
  • Skilled in data-driven decision making and problem solving to optimize development processes and product outcomes.
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in software prototyping and tooling to enhance engineering productivity.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage stakeholders and drive cross-team alignment.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
