Staff Software Engineer, Release

Anduril•Costa Mesa, CA

About The Position

The Staff Software Engineer, Release will work on Anduril’s Software Platform Foundations team, which builds foundational systems that help engineering teams develop, test, and deploy defense technology efficiently and reliably. The role operates across complex systems, including multi-stage release pipelines and cloud and robot environments, where architectural decisions have measurable consequences and correctness is critical. It supports safe delivery of Lattice to customers and helps Software Platform teams release without disrupting adjacent teams. The successful candidate will own architecture for how Software Platform ships, including the Integrated Continuous Release (ICR) pipeline, automated local and integrated end-to-end test environments, and contract-verification models for Lattice services. The role focuses on building verification and deployment infrastructure that improves product quality, reliability, traceability, and release speed. It includes developing representative full-stack test environments, including hardware-in-the-loop systems, and using AI-enabled automation to identify and fix issues early without harming the developer experience.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience building automated verification suites at scale.
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipeline development, SRE principles, automated testing frameworks, scripting for automation, and software development lifecycles.
  • Deep experience with frontend and backend services and architectures, including experience operating at scale.
  • Hands-on experience automating hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) and software-in-the-loop (SITL) engineering and using them in production release processes.
  • Expertise developing and implementing automated regression, unit, and integration tests.
  • Proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, and system development.
  • Professional experience with containerization workflows and Terraform.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical industry experience.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • NixOS experience.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry or with systems requiring high reliability and traceability.

Responsibilities

  • Build and implement robust automated systems for software development, verification, and deployment.
  • Develop and own the reference environment in which Lattice workflows are verified before release.
  • Define, build, and maintain comprehensive, representative full-stack test environments, including hardware-in-the-loop systems, with attention to software performance on physical hardware and resource optimization.
  • Design and implement software interfaces and product features that enable end-to-end testing across complex systems.
  • Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines, establish and enforce performance baselines, and promote reliability engineering practices to identify and prevent regressions across the software stack.
  • Define and implement AI-enabled automation to find and fix issues early in the development cycle without negatively affecting developer experience.
  • Champion software quality.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as a comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.
