Staff Software Engineer, Release

Anduril•Seattle, WA

About The Position

The Software Platform Foundations team builds foundational systems that help engineering teams develop, test, and deploy defense technology efficiently and reliably. It creates automated systems to improve workflows, reduce manual effort, and optimize processes across the software development lifecycle and production pipelines. The Staff Software Engineer, Release will work across a complex ecosystem that includes multi-stage release pipelines and cloud and robot environments. The role owns architecture and implementation for how Software Platform ships, including the Integrated Continuous Release (ICR) pipeline, automated local and integrated end-to-end test environments, and contract-verification models for Lattice services. The work helps ensure products are delivered safely and reliably, and that software teams can ship without disrupting adjacent teams. The engineer will build automated development, verification, and deployment systems; own the reference environment used to verify Lattice workflows before release; and establish representative full-stack test environments, including hardware-in-the-loop systems. The role also advances performance testing in CI/CD, reliability engineering, and AI-enabled automation to identify and address issues early while preserving the developer experience.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience building automated verification suites at scale.
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipeline development, SRE principles, automated testing frameworks, automation scripting, and software development lifecycles.
  • Deep experience with frontend and backend services and architectures, including experience at scale.
  • Hands-on experience automating hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) and software-in-the-loop (SITL) engineering and using them in production release processes.
  • Expertise developing and implementing automated regression, unit, and integration tests.
  • Proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, and system development.
  • Professional experience with containerization workflows and Terraform.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical industry experience.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • NixOS experience.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry or with systems requiring high reliability and traceability.

Responsibilities

  • Build and implement automated systems for software development, verification, and deployment.
  • Develop and own the reference environment in which Lattice workflows are verified before release.
  • Define, build, and maintain representative full-stack test environments, including hardware-in-the-loop systems, with attention to physical hardware performance and resource optimization.
  • Design and implement software interfaces and product features that enable end-to-end testing across complex systems.
  • Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines, establish and enforce performance baselines, and apply reliability engineering practices to identify and prevent regressions across the software stack.
  • Define and implement AI-enabled automation to find and fix issues early in the development cycle without negatively affecting developer experience.
  • Champion software quality.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including a comprehensive and competitive package available at little to no cost to employees.
