About the position
BillionToOne is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Development team. The ideal candidate will have experience in full life-cycle development, a desire to positively impact colleagues and patients, and thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. This is a remote position, but the candidate may also work from the office in Menlo Park or Union City, CA if in the area. The candidate will work on enhancing patient and physician portals, expanding offerings into new assays, building out API and UI frameworks, and overhauling infrastructure for performance. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience as a software engineer, strong React/TypeScript expertise, experience with a web framework in Python, and deep knowledge of web technologies.
Responsibilities
- Enhancing Patient and Physician Portals for the modern, discerning customer
- Working with Scientists and BioInformaticians to expand offerings into assays that have never before been possible
- Building out API and UI Framework to enable quick iteration in modern languages
- Overhauling infrastructure for performance as the company grows 3x each year
- Recommending architecture and backing it up with solid reasoning
- Making an impact both through many small tools and large product development in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
- 10+ years as a software engineer
- Prefer to work on an interdisciplinary team
- Specialize in Front End development, but also productive working on the Back End when needed
- Very strong React/TypeScript expertise
- Experience with a web framework in Python (Django highly preferred)
- Deep knowledge of web technologies: REST, relational databases, HTTP, javascript, etc.
- Experience to recommend architecture and the knowledge to back it up with solid reasoning
- Strong desire to make an impact both through many small tools and large product development in a fast-paced environment
- Nice-to-haves: Django rest framework, previous Healthcare industry experience, previous startup or entrepreneurial experience.
