About The Position

CVS Health is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer to design, develop, and implement digital solutions and systems. The role applies advanced technical expertise to architect and code software applications, conduct system testing and debugging, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the technical direction and innovation of digital engineering projects. The position defines application development strategy, oversees the team's day-to-day work and delivery, identifies opportunities for innovation, allocates resources, and establishes risk and governance processes. It also collaborates with senior management, business leaders, external partners, vendors, and clients to understand needs and align solutions with business objectives and customer expectations. The engineer reviews and approves project deliverables for quality and alignment with the organization's technology strategy.

Requirements

7+ years of software development experience in enterprise or web applications.
5+ years of experience with React, React TypeScript, React JS, Python, Node.js, or other front-end frameworks.
5+ years of experience with cloud technologies such as GCP, AWS, Azure, or other public cloud services.
3+ years of experience as a full-stack developer in Java-based technologies, including microservices, FAST API, and Spring Boot framework/REST.
3+ years of experience with Agile development practices.
3+ years of experience applying AI tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Amazon Q to accelerate software design, development, testing, and code review.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (high school diploma plus 4 years of relevant experience).

Nice To Haves

Experience as a full-stack developer in Java-based technologies, including microservices, FAST API, and Spring Boot framework/REST.
Experience leading projects or managing direct reports.
Experience with emerging cloud platform technologies such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, GKE, Google databases (BigQuery, Spanner, BigTable), or other PaaS technologies.
Demonstrated ability to guide teams in responsibly adopting AI-assisted engineering practices, including evaluating outputs for quality, security, and reliability.
Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD) preferred.
Certified Agile Developer (CAD) preferred.

Responsibilities

Define and communicate long-term application development strategy aligned with organizational goals and business objectives.

Analyze industry trends, emerging technologies, and business intelligence to identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement.
Allocate resources and prioritize development projects to ensure effective use of skills, budget, and personnel.
Conduct risk assessments and establish governance processes to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Collaborate with senior management and business leaders to understand application needs and requirements and ensure solutions meet client and business needs.
Communicate with external partners, vendors, and clients to build relationships, gather feedback, and align development efforts with customer expectations and business objectives.
Review and approve project deliverables to ensure they meet quality standards and align with the organization's technology strategy.
Architect and code software applications, conduct system testing and debugging, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the technical direction of digital engineering projects.
