Staff Salesforce Engineer, Thomas

Xometry•North Bethesda, MD
•$133,000 - $170,000

About The Position

Xometry is seeking a Staff Salesforce Engineer to serve as the technical lead for the Thomas Salesforce org on its Salesforce Platform Team. The platform supports advertiser contracts, leads, renewals, invoices, and integrations with HubSpot, Intacct, and ZoomInfo. The role partners closely with Sales, Sales Ops, and Finance to make the platform reliable, well-governed, and predictable to deliver against. It is a high-visibility, hands-on position responsible for setting technical direction, writing and reviewing complex code, and improving how work is intake-prioritized, owned, and delivered. The role has no direct reports. The engineer will lead operational delivery on a 14-day sprint cadence; own platform architecture and integrations; guide build-versus-buy and declarative-versus-programmatic decisions; establish maintainable development and deployment practices; and serve as the technical escalation point for production incidents. The position also supports SOX compliance through deployment audit evidence, recurring reports, and connected-app and API access reviews. The role collaborates with Sales, Sales Ops, Finance, Marketing, IT, and the Marketplace Salesforce team.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional Salesforce development experience in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment.
  • Mastery of Apex and Lightning Web Components built and run in production, plus fluency in Flow and declarative configuration.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing Salesforce integrations with ERP and marketing automation systems such as Intacct, NetSuite, HubSpot, Marketo, or similar, using Salesforce APIs and middleware or cloud services such as AWS.
  • Experience with Salesforce CPQ, contracts, and the change-order lifecycle.
  • Experience deploying Salesforce code using a full SDLC, including code review, testing, multi-environment management, and a CI/CD pipeline such as Gearset or Copado with Git-based workflows.
  • Experience supporting SOX controls for a Salesforce org, including deployment audit evidence, access reviews, permission governance, and reporting to Finance or auditors.
  • Working code experience in JavaScript, Python, or Java beyond Apex, and SQL for data investigation.
  • Experience guiding a team's technical direction, including mentoring through code review and leading team ceremonies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels, from a Finance controller to a nearshore developer.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with distributed or offshore contributors.
  • Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer I and II; Technical Architect, Administrator, or CPQ Specialist certifications are also a plus.
  • Experience in a B2B marketplace, media and advertising, or subscription-revenue business.
  • Practical use of AI tooling in development; Claude and Cursor are approved team standards.

Responsibilities

  • Turn a reactive backlog into a prioritized, owned delivery process, ensuring tickets leaving Triage have a named owner and sized estimate.
  • Lead sprint planning, story time, and retrospectives on a 14-day cadence.
  • Own the design and health of Salesforce integrations with Intacct, HubSpot, and ZoomInfo, as well as CPQ, contracts, change orders, and lead routing.
  • Resolve integration failures at their root cause using error handling, idempotency, and reconciliation.
  • Guide build-versus-buy and declarative-versus-programmatic decisions.
  • Champion maintainable platform practices, including managing metadata through Gearset and GitHub CI/CD, avoiding direct-to-production changes, and maintaining a technical roadmap that includes structural debt.
  • Write Apex, LWC, and Flow for complex problems and review pull requests.
  • Mentor developers and admins on Salesforce best practices and set technical expectations for onshore and offshore contractors.
  • Review contractor work and provide the Sr. Manager with written assessments of delivery quality.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for production incidents and lead root-cause analyses.
  • Build partnerships across Sales, Sales Ops, Finance, Marketing, IT, and the Marketplace Salesforce team; provide clear rationale when pushing back on requests that are not the right solution.
  • Own the technical side of SOX compliance for the platform, including preparing and reviewing deployment audit evidence, producing recurring SOX reports for Finance and audit, and conducting connected-app and API access reviews.
