About The Position

Wander is building an AI-powered product for hospitality operators. The Staff Product Designer will lead design for the Discovery team, helping operators reach more travelers and grow their businesses. They will partner closely with Product and Engineering to define direction, solve complex problems, and deliver high-quality experiences. This is the team’s only designer, working with a small, senior engineering team that ships daily, and will represent Design, advocate for customers, and maintain product quality and consistency.

The role focuses on making complex and uncertain data actionable and trustworthy, designing intuitive workflows for operators working alongside AI, and prioritizing what the team builds based on customer evidence and sound judgment. The designer is expected to lead at the team level, work autonomously, and elevate product decisions, collaboration, and design quality. The position is remote in the US. Applicants should include a portfolio featuring shipped product work.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to independently set product direction, challenge assumptions, and contribute effectively to cross-functional decisions.
• Proactive, autonomous, and trustworthy, with the ability to identify blind spots, bring people together, and move work forward without waiting to be asked.
• Strong product judgment and design craft, balancing business needs, customer problems, and design quality.
• Ability to make dashboards, metrics, and data visualizations feel simple and trustworthy.
• Comfort using AI, Figma, code, and tools such as Vercel to prototype, experiment, and ship quickly.
• Care for both detailed execution and broader product ideas, with willingness to cut features rather than ship confusing experiences.
• Portfolio that includes shipped product work.
• Ability to thrive as the sole designer on a fast-moving engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead design for the Discovery team and help define product direction.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to solve complex problems and ship high-quality experiences.
• Represent Design, advocate for customers, and protect the quality and consistency of the product.
• Turn complex, noisy, and uncertain information into clear, trustworthy experiences that operators can act on.
• Design intuitive workflows for operators working alongside AI.
• Use customer evidence and product judgment to prioritize what the team builds and what it does not.
• Uphold and evolve the design system while avoiding unnecessary gatekeeping.
• Use AI, Figma, code, and tools such as Vercel to prototype, experiment, and ship quickly.
• Elevate team quality through strong product decisions, clarity, and collaboration.
