The Staff Pharmacist ensures efficient and accurate dispensing of medications, counsels patients and prescribers on medication therapy, supervises pharmacy technicians, provides excellent customer service to all patients and fellow STRIDE employees, and contributes to all areas of pharmacy services and operations. The Pharmacist strives to deliver quality pharmacy services, collaborating with primary care providers and staff to improve the health of STRIDE CHC patients.

Requirements

  • Three years’ experience in retail pharmacy services or community-based health setting.
  • BS or PharmD degree from accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Colorado Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Active BLS certification.
  • Interact positively and build rapport with patients, providers, co-workers, and external contacts.
  • Work independently and organize work in a manner that ensures accuracy and efficiency.
  • Respond effectively and sensitively to the needs and concerns of the full range of STRIDEs patient population.
  • Display excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Identify barriers to performance of others and provide coaching, training, or other assistance to remove those barriers.
  • Handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
  • Protect the confidentiality of patient, employee, and business information.
  • Exercise sound personal and professional judgment and make decisions quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates prescriptions for completeness, accuracy and appropriateness for patients age, weight, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Advises prescribers and patients on drug therapy management, including formulary alternatives, drug interactions, side effects, indications, proper usage and storage.
  • Supervises pharmacy technicians in filling and verifying all prescription medications, clinic medication and vaccine orders. Ensures accurate dispensing of medications and appropriate patient counseling.
  • Consults and collaborates with health care providers, clinic staff and other members of the STRIDE health care team to provide excellent patient care.
  • Responsible for the ordering, storage, and handling of pharmaceuticals. Maintains pharmacy inventory and supplies following department budget.
  • Follows policy and procedure for detecting and reporting pharmaceutical errors and incidents. Assists in developing policy and procedure for prevention of future errors.
  • Manages disposal of outdated drugs and returns expired vaccines to manufacturer for credit.
  • Supervises and manages payment transactions and follows cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Collects data and prepares reports for the Pharmacy Manager as needed.
  • Handles protected health information (PHI) in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  • Complies with all guidelines of the 340B drug pricing program.
  • Complies with all federal and state laws, rules and regulations governing pharmacists and pharmacy practice.
  • Complete all trainings as required by the department or organization.
