About The Position

Our client, a highly respected public accounting and advisory firm recognized as one of Virginia's top workplaces, is seeking a Staff Accountant I to join its Family Wealth Services Group (FWSG). This is an outstanding opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced tax, accounting, and advisory professionals while building a strong technical foundation within public accounting. As a Staff Accountant I, you'll gain exposure to individual, trust, estate, corporate, and partnership tax engagements while assisting with accounting projects, financial statement preparation, and client service initiatives. You'll work directly with experienced Managers and Principals who are committed to developing future leaders within the firm. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1+ year of accounting, tax, or public accounting experience
  • Understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual income tax returns and supporting workpapers
  • Assist with trust and estate tax return preparation
  • Prepare tax return extensions and related filings
  • Organize client tax information and engagement documentation
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state filing requirements
  • Perform bookkeeping and accounting services for clients
  • Assist with trust and estate accounting functions
  • Prepare and maintain financial records
  • Support accounting engagements and client projects
  • Assist with financial statement preparation
  • Prepare client correspondence and engagement communications
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client requests
  • Develop positive client relationships
  • Support client service initiatives and engagement teams
  • Assist with gathering information and managing documentation
  • Research tax and accounting issues as assigned
  • Learn firm methodologies, systems, and best practices
  • Develop technical knowledge of tax regulations and accounting principles
  • Gain exposure to advanced tax planning concepts
  • Stay informed on professional developments and industry trends
