About The Position

Vision Point Systems, Inc. is recruiting for a Staff Accountant to work in our Fairfax, VA office (moving to Chantilly, VA in the fall). The ideal candidate will ensure financial accuracy, streamline project-based billing, and support project management teams.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience in a government contracting environment.
  • 1-2+ years of on hands on experience using Unanet for project-based accounting.
  • Hands on experience executing monthly end close and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or similarly aligned field from an accredited university or college.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills ((particularly in Excel, handling PivotTables and VLOOKUPs).
  • Must possess strong analytical thinking skills.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail.
  • Must effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams on all levels.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without the need for current or future immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Process and post all monthly customer invoices and post cash receipts.
  • Review vendor invoices and provide the proper general ledger coding on all invoices, to include semi-monthly employee expense reimbursements.
  • Understand the process flow of Purchase Orders (PO’s) and mods in Unanet.
  • Process the bi-weekly check runs and cash disbursements.
  • Execute month-end close processes, prepare and post journal entries, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Perform and complete balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
  • Investigate and correct financial inconsistencies to maintain accurate reporting monthly.
  • Utilize Unanet ERP/Accounting daily to manage project accounting, time and expense tracking, billing, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare specialized financial documents, such as monthly variance explanations, profit and loss statements, and budget schedules.
  • Ensure all financial transactions adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and support both internal and external audit documentation.
  • Completing annual incurred cost schedules for submission to DCAA, census bureau data, the annual BPOL and personal property tax filings.
