Staff Accountant

The Bryar GroupSchaumburg, IL
$70,000 - $80,000Hybrid

About The Position

A rapidly expanding, private equity-backed service and distribution platform with 100+ locations across North America is seeking a driven Staff Accountant to join its growing accounting team. The organization is backed by a multi-billion-dollar parent company and continues to scale through strategic acquisitions and operational excellence. This is not a “plug-and-play” accounting seat. The role has been intentionally redesigned to provide meaningful responsibility and direct exposure to senior accounting leadership. You’ll play a key role in the month-end close process while gaining visibility across a dynamic, multi-entity environment. This opportunity is ideal for someone who wants to build a long-term career within a high-growth organization—not someone looking for a short-term stepping stone.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 2–4 years of Staff Accountant experience (industry preferred; open to public accounting)
  • Strong technical foundation in month-end close (journal entries, accruals, reconciliations required)
  • Service or distribution industry exposure highly preferred (open to most industries except financial services or government)
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Clear, confident communicator able to articulate thought process and workflow
  • Demonstrated career progression and stable work history
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Motivated to grow beyond a daily task list with a long-term career mindset
  • Comfortable working onsite 3 days per week in the western suburbs of Chicago

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and expense allocations
  • Perform account and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Assist with internal reporting (daily sales reporting and month-end packages)
  • Track lease data and prepare lease-related entries
  • Analyze expense accounts for accuracy and provide variance explanations
  • Partner cross-functionally with department leaders to ensure proper expense coding
  • Support ad hoc reporting and analytics projects
  • Play an integral role in month-end and year-end close

Benefits

  • Join a high-growth platform with strong financial backing
  • Build a long-term career with real advancement pathways across multiple brands
  • Gain early exposure to senior accounting leadership
  • Contribute in a role intentionally structured for development
  • Work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment where communication and initiative are valued
  • Be part of an organization that prioritizes growth, opportunity, and internal mobility
