About The Position

This position supports the work of the Woodson YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility by providing excellent member experiences.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of accounting experience, including accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with technology accounting systems, Microsoft Excel, and other related applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
  • Ability to multi-task, work efficiently, and meet deadlines.
  • Be committed to providing efficient and reliable support to the HR/Finance department members, other departments, members, and vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes and reconciles bank deposits with the operation and financial systems, to ensure accurate records and good internal controls.
  • Process accounts payable, which includes entering invoices, checking proper coding, printing checks, matching invoices to checks, preparing documents for mailing and maintaining all related files.
  • Maintains the vendor database, including vendor and subcontractor insurance information and W9 forms, communicates directly with vendors and subcontractors as needed.
  • Prepare 1099s and 1096s, providing them to recipients and state and federal government in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Completes the review and audit of monthly credit card transactions.
  • Processes payroll on a shared basis with HR staff.
  • Enters journal entries bi-weekly from the payroll system to the finance system.
  • Completes allocations and journal entries monthly.
  • Assists with preparation of month end close.
  • Prepare quarterly sales tax report.
  • Assist with preparation of documentation for the annual audit.
  • Runs reports and does analytical reporting as requested.
  • Keeps track of allocated board designated funds through project completion.
  • Assists in billing insurance reimbursements.
  • Works with the VP of Finance and HR on budget preparation and collation.
  • Coordinates and manages the onboarding of volunteers.
  • Acts as a back-up and support for other HR/Finance team members’ tasks.
  • All other duties and projects as needed.
