Let Purvis Industries show you how we practice these principles daily! We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. This role requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification or CPA candidate status.
  • Experience in a multi-entity business environment.
  • Knowledge of financial statement preparation and audit support.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits.
  • Assist with financial reporting and management reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Support variance analysis activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial information and resolve issues.
