Sr. Staff Technical Program Manager- Eng

UKG•Atlanta, GA
•$169,400 - $241,400

About The Position

UKG’s Engineering Enablement team supports engineering-wide operational and organizational changes across every Engineering pillar and value stream. The team works with program teams and technical owners from the initial definition of a change through rollout and sustainment, with a focus on making large-scale changes clear, measurable, easier to execute, and durable. The Sr. Staff Technical Program Manager leads the organizational change behind engineering-wide initiatives. The role partners with Technical Program Managers, engineering leaders, and technical subject matter experts to shape program scope and develop and execute change, communication, readiness, and adoption strategies. The position does not own technical strategy or the content of the standard being rolled out; it translates that work and owns Engineering adoption. When no other Technical Program Manager is assigned, the role leads the program end to end. This organizational change management role assesses how changes affect the teams expected to act, identifies impacts and resistance early, builds adoption mechanisms and support, and stays engaged until changes become part of normal Engineering operations. The pay range is $169,400 to $241,400. Actual base pay may vary based on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and work location. Employees may also be eligible for a performance-based bonus plan and restricted stock unit awards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Information Systems, Organizational Development, Organizational Leadership, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience developing and executing organizational transformation, change, adoption, or enablement strategies for complex initiatives, or technical program management with comparable responsibility.
  • Experience working directly with software engineers and engineering leaders, with sufficient technical fluency to ask informed questions and hold a position with technical teams.
  • Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) in a SaaS environment.
  • Experience developing communications, documentation, training, or self-service support resources for technical audiences.
  • Experience assessing organizational impact and readiness and planning rollouts across multiple teams, including sequencing, dependencies, and risks.
  • Experience defining and reporting adoption, readiness, or delivery metrics to senior leadership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts across all levels of an organization.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs and competing priorities, with judgment to sequence work when timelines overlap.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in management consulting or in an internal strategy, transformation, or change enablement function.
  • Background in executive communications, change communications, or transformation program management.
  • Familiarity with organizational change management frameworks and their application to technical audiences.
  • Experience with large-scale technology migrations, engineering platforms and tooling, security initiatives, reliability and observability programs, or infrastructure modernization.
  • Experience working within a large, distributed engineering organization.
  • Experience using automation or AI to scale communications, documentation, training, and reporting.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and reporting or dashboarding tools.

Responsibilities

  • Engage while changes are being defined and help program teams and technical owners shape scope, impacted audiences, prerequisites, rollout sequencing, and team-level completion criteria.
  • Develop and execute change and adoption strategies, assess organizational impact and readiness, and identify resistance and adoption barriers.
  • Determine appropriate communication, education, and support approaches for each change.
  • Own Engineering communications explaining why a change is happening, who is impacted, what action is required, and when; coordinate communications across simultaneous initiatives to reduce message overlap and change fatigue.
  • Prepare Engineering teams to act by identifying impacted teams and assets, defining readiness criteria, planning rollouts, and establishing documentation, tracking, reporting, and support before action is required.
  • Build scalable enablement with subject matter experts, including guides, FAQs, training, templates, and support channels; turn recurring questions and barriers into durable documentation, automation, or process improvements.
  • Track and measure adoption, implementation, readiness, status, blockers, and dependencies, and provide leadership reporting that complements standard program status and milestone reporting.
  • Lead programs directly when no other Technical Program Manager is assigned, owning delivery plans, milestones, cross-functional coordination, dependencies, risks, and escalation through completion.
  • Sustain changes by establishing long-term ownership, automating where possible, and designing durable Engineering processes.
