About The Position
Guitar Center is seeking a Senior Sales Associate to help customers discover instruments and equipment while contributing to a welcoming, music-focused retail environment. The role combines customer service, sales, product expertise, relationship building, merchandising, store operations, and peer leadership. As a keyholding team member, the associate may open and close the store as needed and guide colleagues through customer interactions and operational tasks. The successful candidate is passionate about music, motivated to meet sales goals, collaborative, and comfortable in a fast-paced retail setting. The position offers opportunities to develop a career in a creative environment and includes gig leave for musician employees, allowing time off to perform on tour and return to work afterward.
Requirements
- Passion for music and a solid understanding of various instruments and products.
- Proven sales track record and ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to influence and motivate others toward shared goals.
- Willingness to work additional hours if needed and nights and weekends as needed.
Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming environment and help customers find instruments and gear suited to their musical interests.
- Achieve and exceed sales targets through sales, upselling, and cross-selling instruments and accessories.
- Maintain strong product knowledge, including guitars and recording equipment, and help improve colleagues’ product knowledge.
- Build customer relationships and help colleagues foster relationships with customers and the local music community.
- Organize displays, restock shelves, and maintain the store’s appearance.
- Guide and mentor team members, supporting them with customer interactions and operational tasks.
- Open and close the store as needed as a keyholding team member.
