Production Operator - Night Shift - Altavista, VA Plant
About The Position
The Sr Production Equipment Operator works at Abbott’s Altavista, Virginia location in the Abbott Nutrition division. The plant manufactures nutrition products using advanced production technology. The operator safely operates, cleans, and helps maintain standard and complex high-speed production equipment. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, ensuring equipment has adequate materials, troubleshooting equipment issues, checking product and material identification, codes, and expiration dates, and completing visual inspections and offline quality tests. The position is accountable for meeting FDA, OSHA, and Abbott compliance standards. This is a night-shift role with example hours of 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. on a rotating two-week schedule. The posted base pay range is $17.15–$34.25 per hour; pay may vary by location.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Nice To Haves
- Six months of prior manufacturing experience.
- Proficiency in basic math.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Some mechanical aptitude.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate, clean, and help maintain complex and standard high-speed production equipment.
- Maintain accurate and legible records and documentation.
- Maintain an adequate supply of materials for equipment in operation.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Ensure products and materials have proper identification and correct codes and expiration dates.
- Perform periodic online visual quality inspections and offline quality tests.
- Meet FDA, OSHA, and Abbott compliance standards, policies, and procedures.
