About The Position
This Production Specialist position is based at Abbott’s Altavista, Virginia location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Abbott Nutrition develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages. The Altavista plant is a large nutrition manufacturing facility equipped with advanced production technology. The position operates production equipment used to manufacture nutrition products and supports production through packaging-material inventory, work-order documentation, quality checks, cleaning, and troubleshooting. The role is accountable for meeting FDA, OSHA, and Abbott compliance standards and policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Six months of prior manufacturing experience.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Analytical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to multitask.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals.
- Experience with tools and equipment related to the position, or experience as a Senior Production Equipment Operator.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate complex and standard high-speed production equipment used to make nutrition products.
- Maintain inventory of packaging materials.
- Complete work-order documentation.
- Perform quality checks.
- Clean equipment and the production environment.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Meet compliance standards, including FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures.
