About The Position

The Production Specialist works at Abbott’s Altavista, Virginia location in the Abbott Nutrition division, which manufactures science-based nutrition products. The role operates complex and standard high-speed production equipment used to make nutrition products and helps maintain production quality, materials, and documentation. The position is on the night shift, with example hours of 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. on a rotating schedule. The role is accountable for meeting FDA, OSHA, and Abbott compliance standards and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months of prior manufacturing experience.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Analytical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to multitask.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals.
• Experience with tools and equipment related to the position, or experience as a Senior Production Equipment Operator.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate complex and standard high-speed production equipment used to make nutrition products.
• Maintain inventory of packaging materials.
• Complete work order documentation.
• Perform quality checks.
• Clean equipment and the production environment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Meet applicable FDA, OSHA, and Abbott compliance standards and procedures.
