About The Position

We are looking for product managers to help guide and chart a course for Grainger's enterprise systems and application development so that Grainger continues to be the destination for "the ones that get it done". This role will lead product strategy for Grainger's newly established Customer-Facing APIs team, defining the vision, roadmap, and product strategy for APIs that enable customers, partners, and third-party developers to seamlessly integrate with Grainger. You will play a key role in shaping the future of eProcurement, Grainger’s largest and fastest-growing order channel toward more scalable, self-service integrations, and end-to-end visibility across the ePro integration lifecycle. You will work with engineering, design, and operations to develop and launch innovative aspects of a product. You are creative and highly analytical, able to work in a matrix organization, can synthesize a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love. Success in this role will require you to deep dive in Grainger’s end-to-end processes from intake, integration, order, invoice, and payment, ensuring solutions address root causes rather than layering on complexity. You will report to the Director, Product Management and will work on a hybrid basis out of our Chicago, IL office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 7+ years product management or equivalent experience required
  • 3+ years of experience managing API, platform, or integration products, with demonstrated experience in customer-facing API design and strategy.
  • Strong experience with Process Design
  • Demonstrated comfort operating in highly visible, cross-functional roll, with experience leading change management and driving adoption across complex organizations
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced ability to use data, experimentation, and insights to guide decisions.
  • Experience influencing senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in high-ambiguity environments.
  • Passion for developing others and elevating product practices.

Responsibilities

  • Owns and evolves product strategy for a sub-domain, establishing enterprise roadmaps across now, near, and next to drive advantaged customer outcomes at every stage. As roadmaps enter execution, ensure work is well-formed and clear for delivery partners.
  • Defines and monitors success metrics across the roadmap, making data-informed decisions in ambiguous environments, driving outcomes aligned to the product strategy and creating transparency and accountability across teams and stakeholders.
  • Influences senior stakeholders through clear narratives that connect product strategy to business outcomes, helping partners reason about tradeoffs and priorities.
  • Champions deep customer understanding and ensures data-driven insights drive prioritization and solution design, partnering with UX and Analytics on research as appropriate, and partnering with operational teams to assess and propose process changes needed to achieve business outcomes.
  • Identifies novel opportunities and rethinks approaches to unlock new value for customers and the business leveraging market and Grainger understanding.
  • Leads alignment across multiple cross-functional teams and business stakeholders, resolving conflicts and driving shared accountability.
  • Balances speed, quality, and risk across initiatives to deliver maximum impact. Stays ahead of trends in adjacent technologies, competitive space, and customer needs and develop a clear strategy around how Grainger can win.
  • Coaches and mentors other product managers, raising product craft and execution quality.
