About The Position
Infotech is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to build and support the automated, self-service foundation that moves software from integration and testing through release, deployment, and ongoing operation. The role administers cloud-based platforms and serves as a liaison between engineers, IT, and external cloud providers to keep deployments efficient, secure, and resilient. The engineer partners with product engineering teams to provide a scalable, highly available AWS platform for interdependent products and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field and 3 years of relevant experience; or a master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of and some experience with AWS, including IAM, VPC, EC2, ECS, S3, and RDS.
- Knowledge of and some experience with containerization, including Docker or ECS.
- Knowledge of and some experience with Terraform.
- Knowledge of and some experience with networking, including subnetting, routing, and DNS.
- Knowledge of and some experience with Linux.
- Knowledge of and some experience with security or compliance.
- Knowledge of and some experience with Git and CI/CD.
- Knowledge of and some experience with observability or monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of and some experience with scripting in Python or Bash.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in platform, DevOps, or infrastructure roles.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- A solid grasp of Infrastructure as Code concepts.
- Knowledge of database administration and networking.
- Experience with Agile software engineering.
- Experience with service catalogs or developer portals such as Backstage, Port, or Cortex, including modeling services, ownership, and dependencies.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of Azure or GCP.
- Knowledge of OpenTofu or CloudFormation.
- AWS certification or RHCSA.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product engineering teams to design and deliver a scalable, highly available platform on AWS for interdependent products and services.
- Build and maintain reusable, self-service tooling and standardized environments that help developers build, test, and ship more efficiently.
- Automate CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure provisioning using scripting, Infrastructure as Code, and AWS services.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain consistent development, test, and production environments while using resources efficiently across commercial products.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability to identify issues early, respond to alerts quickly, and support seamless service delivery.
- Administer Linux-based systems and cloud networking, enforcing security across accounts, user permissions, and services.
- Maintain system health through backups, updates, and security patching, and monitor for vulnerabilities and intrusion.
- Identify infrastructure design and process risks, communicate them to appropriate stakeholders, and recommend improvements.
- Create clear technical documentation and share platform capabilities with product teams.
- Participate in after-hours maintenance and on-call troubleshooting when needed.
