About The Position

At PointClickCare, the Platform Engineering team is a close-knit group of five highly senior, deeply experienced engineers focused on solving complex self-service challenges within the developer platform space. This includes areas like CI/CD, Kubernetes, AI-powered tooling, and internal developer portals. The team's mission is to build platforms that enable faster, more secure, and highly repeatable application deployment and operation, thereby removing friction at scale. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with exceptional engineers on high-impact problems where individual expertise is valued. The team operates in a Hybrid model, emphasizing in-office time for meaningful collaboration. Platform Engineering's core purpose is to empower product engineering teams to build, deploy, and operate healthcare software with increased speed, reliability, and security. They achieve this by tackling complex cross-functional domains to deliver end-to-end self-service platforms, golden paths, and developer tools designed to reduce cognitive load, allowing development teams to concentrate on delivering value to clinicians and patients. While not owning every part of the stack, they act as the integrating force, ensuring the reliability of their contributions through SRE practices.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency with Kubernetes across the full cluster stack — operating complex environments, extending platform capabilities, and maintaining reliability at scale
  • Expert-level proficiency building and operating CI/CD pipelines optimized for security, compliance, and developer experience
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js for building production-grade platform services, APIs, CLIs, and SDKs, with strong automated testing practices (unit, integration, E2E)
  • Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi) and GitOps practices
  • Strong proficiency with observability (metrics, logging, distributed tracing, SLI/SLO frameworks, error budgets) and proven operational ownership including on-call incident response and post-mortems
  • Working proficiency with cloud security practices (IAM, secret handling, encryption) and cloud networking (virtual network design, routing, firewall controls) in a production environment
  • Strong communication, influence, and documentation skills — able to translate technical complexity for engineers and non-engineers alike, and produce ADRs, runbooks, and developer-facing documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI/ML integration: LLM APIs, intelligent automation, AI-assisted developer tooling, and agentic patterns
  • Experience building internal developer platforms or platform-as-a-product initiatives, including developer portals and self-service tooling
  • Experience with policy-as-code, security automation, compliance tooling (HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST), and cloud cost optimization (FinOps)
  • Active contribution to open-source projects or thought leadership through technical blogging, conference speaking, or community contributions
