About The Position

The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights is the premier coalition of over 240 national organizations dedicated to promoting and protecting civil and human rights in America. Since 1957, it has coordinated federal strategy and action, including national lobbying and regulatory efforts, for every major civil rights law. The Leadership Conference Education Fund, its 501(c)(3) arm, builds public will for federal civil rights policies through various campaigns. This role is for a Sr. People & Culture Associate to join the People & Culture (P&C) Department, reporting to the Director, Talent & Learning Development. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting the full spectrum of talent management functions, be highly motivated and skilled, possess exceptional prioritization and implementation skills, communicate effectively at all organizational levels, and demonstrate diligent follow-through. This is an individual contributor role and is not part of the collective bargaining unit.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of human resources experience is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Passion for civil and human rights and social justice issues.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks, manage a complex workload, and organize time efficiently.
  • Reliable self-starter with strong initiative and follow-through on requests.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of discretion around sensitive matters.
  • Positive work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills. Desire and ability to work with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently, and be able to determine and develop necessary approaches for solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions thoroughly, accurately, consistently, and reliably.
  • Highly effective communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical ability with strong attention to detail.
  • Software proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and in the Windows environment, including Microsoft Office 365, DocuSign, and Monday.com.

  • Experience in nonprofits is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential administrative support for the VP, People & Culture, including coordinating and managing a highly active calendar/schedule to track upcoming deadlines, events, and appointments.
  • Partner in the full-cycle recruitment process to include job postings, scheduling initial planning meetings, candidate screenings, and interviews. Review resumes and conduct candidate screenings to evaluate candidate qualifications and interest.
  • Assist in guiding hiring managers and candidates throughout the interview and pre-hire processes. Coordinate interview logistics, feedback collection, and offer of employment documentation. Managing candidate data and recruiting activity in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Participate in pre-onboarding and onboarding activities to ensure smooth integration of new hires.
  • Partner in reestablishing the organization’s internship program, to include the recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding of interns.
  • Assist in organizing career fairs, campus recruitment events, and networking initiatives to promote a positive employer brand.
  • Keep up to date with talent management trends and non-profit (civil rights/social justice) labor market information. Support P&C and organizational initiatives by conducting research when needed.
  • Process P&C talent & workplace culture invoices and contracts, including monthly credit card expenses reconciliation.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and related.
