About The Position

Under routine supervision, the Sr Parts Technician mentors teammates and helps ensure truck and trailer repair technicians have the parts they need. The role regularly delegates work involving inventory management, audits, and parts orders and shipments to maintain adequate supplies. It maintains parts-related information systems, reports, and departmental support functions; procures parts and services from external vendors at competitive prices; and regularly interacts with maintenance leadership. The position also performs technician duties and, as needed, Parts Manager responsibilities. Full-time attendance is required. Work may take place outdoors and in the elements, and may involve multiple shifts, including nights or weekends, as well as overtime. A limited sign-on bonus may be available.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and up to two years of direct experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work outdoors and in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed.
Ability to multitask.

Proficient deductive reasoning, active listening, organizational, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

Forecast inventory turnover and replenishment, monitor inventory levels, and order parts based on sales information and reorder points.
Observe all Company safety requirements.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Maintain a clean, orderly work environment free of trash and hazards.
Ship and receive shop tools requiring repair or replacement.
Retain and ship parts; maintain company information systems for parts and fuel; stock inbound parts in the proper storage location and update information systems.
Gather timely management reports on parts usage, sales, and other data.
Provide administrative support, including copying and typing correspondence, maintaining records, and filing.
Perform technician duties and, when needed, Parts Manager duties such as ordering stock and reviewing requirements with local vendors.
Fulfill technicians’ parts requests and ensure parts are properly charged to the unit under repair.
Ensure each unit has the required equipment inventory and identify unusable equipment requiring replacement.
Keep required Safety, OSHA, First Aid, and other safety items stocked and available; ensure compliance with relevant safety policies.
Forecast and manage adequate storage for ample, damage-free inventory in accordance with Company Warranty Retention and Core Management procedures.
Conduct cycle counts and periodic inventories as required.
Mentor teammates and regularly delegate inventory, audit, ordering, and shipment tasks.
