Sr Mechanical Design Technician

Corning•Wilmington, NC
•$75,055 - $103,201

About The Position

Corning is seeking an experienced Sr. Mechanical Design Technician to create and refine mechanical equipment designs and layouts using advanced CAD tools, adhering to Corning Machine Drafting Standards. The role supports production-system optimization, design problem solving, and delivery of mechanical design solutions in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The position develops mechanical equipment designs, drawings, build packages, parts lists, illustrations, and equipment specifications; reviews and updates existing design packages; and redesigns components to reduce installation costs, address interferences, and correct deficiencies. It also involves coordinating drawing updates, making design changes to meet functional and performance requirements, performing elementary engineering calculations, and collaborating with stakeholders and project managers. Travel is project-based and depends on assigned work and home location. Employees may select Concord or Wilmington, North Carolina, as their home location. Travel is typically below 25% during planning and design, but may reach 100% during project execution. Deployments are normally in Wilmington or Concord and may also be international, including India, China, or Europe. Some time on the production floor may be required to gather information about existing equipment. The position does not support immigration sponsorship.
