Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer

Medtronic•Newton, MA
•$106,400 - $159,600•Onsite

About The Position

As a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer in CAS Research & Technology (R&T), you will support the initial design of electrophysiology devices for use with the Affera Mapping and Ablation System. This high-impact role helps define the design direction for future catheter and sheath products. The role calls for a hands-on, self-starting engineer who applies theoretical and practical engineering fundamentals and is interested in cardiac electrophysiology. The position follows Medtronic’s minimum four-day-per-week onsite work model. The Affera system uses advanced mapping techniques to image the heart’s electrical activity and identify areas causing arrhythmias, then delivers targeted energy to disrupt abnormal signals and restore normal rhythm. The role involves designing and developing mechanical elements for cardiac electrophysiology catheters and other Class II and III devices, with consideration for high-volume assembly. It also includes developing manufacturing processes, test methods, fixtures, and tooling; supporting manufacturing and troubleshooting; and collaborating with quality, suppliers, clinicians, and cross-functional engineering teams. The stated U.S. salary range, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California, is $106,400 to $159,600. The position is eligible for the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
