About The Position

Cars Commerce is hiring a Sr. Manager, Enterprise Applications to own its finance and ERP platform and partner with Finance on the tools it uses. The role will help define the future of PeopleSoft Financials and evaluate a potential move to Oracle Fusion, including the modules, phases, and vendors involved. The position owns the technical architecture, integrations, and controls across the portfolio, including HCM and Workday, and partners with Finance and HR leaders on business processes and priorities. Near-term initiatives include replacing the tax platform and adding Canada multicurrency support. The role owns the audit posture of financial systems, leads a small internal team and a managed service provider (MSP), and remains hands-on for approximately 25% of the time. It is accountable for platform delivery from requirements through go-live and production support, including quarter-end and year-end, as well as controls, audit remediation, vendor performance, license and vendor spend, and integration reliability. The role also helps identify appropriate uses of AI and automation in ERP, Finance, and HR workflows while preserving human review where required for audit.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years managing enterprise business applications, with direct technical ownership of an ERP or finance platform such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, or similar.
  • At least 3 years managing people and vendors, including an MSP or offshore team, while remaining accountable for results.
  • Working knowledge of SOX and IT general controls, and experience handling an audit.
  • Fluency in finance processes such as AP, GL, tax, expense, and close, and the tools that support them.
  • Experience building an application roadmap, ideally including a major platform transition, and owning both intake and delivery for enterprise systems.
  • Experience partnering with business stakeholders to prioritize requests and consider their input on platform direction.
  • Experience partnering with business platform owners on functional configuration while owning technical, integration, and control responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or similar, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • PeopleSoft Financials or Oracle Fusion experience, and working knowledge of Workday and related integrations.
  • Experience with a tax engine replacement or multicurrency implementation.
  • Sprint or agile delivery experience for enterprise systems.
  • Practical use of AI or automation inside or around an ERP.
  • Comfort working in a matrixed organization with complex reporting relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Own the finance and ERP platform end to end, from requirements through go-live and production support, including quarter-end and year-end.
  • Define the future state of PeopleSoft and lead evaluation of a possible move to Oracle Fusion, assessing modules, phases, vendors, cost, risk, and effects on Finance.
  • Lead replacement of the tax platform, Canada multicurrency implementation, and regulatory changes such as annual 1099 updates.
  • Partner with Finance leadership on tools including expense management, reporting and analytics, tax, banking, and close tooling; own their technical architecture, integrations, and controls.
  • Own SOX and IT general controls for financial systems, including change approval, production migration, quarterly access reviews, segregation of duties, and audit evidence.
  • Work with internal and external auditors and remediate audit findings.
  • Oversee security architecture, role-based access, and identity governance for core platforms; partner with Security and Infrastructure on disaster recovery and continuity.
  • Lead a small core team and an MSP of approximately 6 to 8 resources, and remain accountable for results across the blended team.
  • Hold the MSP accountable for SLAs, escalation, release quality, and knowledge transfer; use onshore and offshore delivery appropriately, keeping business-facing and compliance-sensitive work onshore.
  • Move prioritization from spreadsheets to sprint-based planning with shared criteria for competing requests from Accounting, Tax, and Finance leadership.
  • Stay hands-on approximately 25% of the time to review designs, troubleshoot incidents, and technically challenge the MSP.
  • Manage license and vendor spend across the portfolio.
  • Own integration architecture across ERP, HCM, tax, banking, and adjacent systems, ensuring integrations are documented, monitored, and resilient.
  • Own Workday and HCM technical architecture, integrations, and SOX controls while partnering with HR on functional configuration and roadmap.
  • Own triage and escalation for integration, access, and technical configuration issues across Finance and HR platforms.
  • Help determine where AI and automation fit across ERP and Finance workflows, retaining human review where audit requires it; use AI tooling in team workflows and identify manual work Finance and HR can hand off.

  • New-hire stipend for home office setup.
  • Generous PTO.
  • Paid holidays, floating holiday, volunteer day, and recharge day.
