About The Position

At Bankers Insurance Group, we are deeply committed to protecting and empowering small businesses. As we expand our footprint in the Businessowners Policy (BOP) and Builders Risk segments, we are seeking a forward-thinking and experienced Senior Loss Control Representative to join our growing Commercial Insurance team. This role plays a critical part in our risk management strategy—blending direct fieldwork with strategic oversight of third-party vendors to ensure our underwriting decisions are grounded in accurate, real-world risk assessment. The Senior Loss Control Representative will conduct select in-field and virtual inspections, while also managing the relationship with our inspection partners to ensure timely, thorough, and scalable risk evaluations. You’ll also serve as a trusted risk advisor to underwriters, agents, and insureds—helping shape risk appetite, improve safety outcomes, and maintain a profitable book of business in both small commercial and construction sectors. As we scale our Builders Risk and inland marine capabilities, you will play a leadership role in helping shape the future of our loss control practice.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field
  • 5–7+ years in loss control or commercial risk management, preferably focused on small business and construction exposures.
  • Strong understanding of BOP and Builders Risk coverages and the specific challenges small commercial clients face.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-experts.
  • Comfortable working independently in the field and collaborating cross-functionally with underwriting, product, and distribution teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as CFSP, ARM, CSP, or CRM are strongly preferred.

  • Oversee relationships with outsourced inspection vendors to ensure service quality, turnaround time, and alignment with underwriting expectations.
  • Review vendor reports for accuracy and completeness; ensure inspections capture the appropriate scope of risk from an underwriting and risk management perspective.
  • Establish inspection priorities, protocols, and escalation processes that support a scalable and proactive risk management strategy.
  • Deliver clear, actionable recommendations to help policyholders reduce loss frequency and severity.
  • Support small business clients in implementing safety training, fire prevention measures, and disaster preparedness programs.
  • Serve as a practical risk management advisor—balancing real-world client challenges with effective mitigation strategies.
  • Create thorough loss control reports with risk ratings, visual documentation, and prioritized recommendations.
  • Review and validate reports from outsourced inspection vendors to ensure they meet underwriting standards and support accurate risk selection.
  • Provide quality assurance feedback to vendors and escalate issues that impact underwriting decisions or service timelines.
  • Maintain risk profiles and collaborate with underwriters to ensure alignment between field assessments and coverage decisions.
  • Offer specialized insights on inland marine and Builders Risk exposures to support complex underwriting scenarios.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for underwriters, agents, brokers, and policyholders.
  • Help build confidence with agents and clients by translating field findings into clear, constructive conversations.
  • Mentor underwriting associates and contribute to team education efforts related to construction and field-based risk topics.
  • Stay current on construction safety standards, NFPA and IBC codes, OSHA regulations, and industry-specific risk trends.
