About The Position

Merchants Insurance Group is seeking a Loss Control Specialist for their Corporate Loss Control team. This role acts as an expert in safety-related areas, providing risk management and consultation services to underwriters, agents, and insureds to prevent and reduce losses for policyholders. The senior specialist will handle larger, more complex accounts, lead training sessions, and participate in special projects. Requirements

  • A 4-year degree or equivalent work-related experience.
  • Currently possess/actively pursuing one or more of the following certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Risk Manager (CRM).
  • 3 years loss control experience.
  • The ability to travel 80% of the work week.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong level of safety and loss control experience.
  • Strong understanding of liability exposures and contracts.
  • Knowledge of industry developments and trends.
  • Working knowledge of Loss Control Management Systems, RCI or similar systems, and the ability to work with assigned hardware utilizing the corporate procedures.
  • Exceptional organization, verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts multiline loss control surveys of prospects and clients to evaluate operation, exposure, and control information for Underwriting decision-making.
  • Prepares reports for Underwriting and Recommendations for Customers.
  • Assists in the development and presentation of programs and training seminars for clients and other departments.
  • Responds to special requests from the Underwriting Department and clients with prior approval from Loss Control Department Management.
  • Assists in achieving commercial lines loss ratio for assigned territories per company objectives and goals.
  • Assists in achieving commercial lines production goals for assigned territories.
