The Sr. Instructional Designer will design and develop instructor-led classroom and field-based on-the-job training for apprenticeships in the power generation utility industry. The role includes performing detailed task analyses for hydro utility workers who perform complex, high-risk, hands-on work, and creating practice activities, student and facilitator guides, scenario-based learning materials, assessments, simulations, videos, and other instructional media. The designer will define learning objectives and course structures that meet stakeholder needs while accounting for safety requirements and remote learning environments. Working under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer, the role applies company standards, guidelines, and templates. The designer will participate in milestone meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis, alpha, beta, train-the-trainer, and pilot meetings, and will support ongoing content review and validation. This is a hybrid assignment described as primarily remote, with in-person milestone meetings in Livermore and quarterly travel to client locations, including the Sierra region. Occasional overnight stays may be needed. Candidates must currently reside in the client service territory and be available during office hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time. The project is twelve months, with potential to extend. A client laptop will be issued; any additional equipment must be provided by the supplier. Travel or mileage outside the home office may be expensed with prior manager approval, and travel expenses are reimbursed.
