Sr. Field Quality Engineer, ADAS

Lucid Motors•Coolidge, AZ
•Onsite

About The Position

The Sr. Field Quality Engineer supports vehicle launches, production readiness, and ramp-up across Lucid’s current and future product portfolio. The role serves as a technical bridge among Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, Quality, Program Management, and Operations during prototype builds, validation, pre-production, Start of Production (SOP), and early production ramp-up. It investigates emerging quality concerns, validates corrective actions, supports launch containment, and helps programs meet quality targets through stable production. The engineer diagnoses vehicle issues across systems including powertrain, electrical, thermal, chassis, body, infotainment, and software-enabled functions. The work includes hands-on troubleshooting, vehicle and data-log analysis, signal validation, component inspections, failure analysis, issue replication, and structured root-cause investigation. The role also uses warranty, telematics, manufacturing, service, and vehicle-health data to identify trends and risks, and manages quality concerns from identification through documented closure and verification of corrective-action effectiveness. This position is fully onsite at Lucid’s Coolidge, Arizona manufacturing facility. Daily in-person collaboration with Manufacturing, Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Service, and Operations is required to support launch execution, readiness, investigations, containment, and ramp-up activities. Success in the first 12 months includes supporting Project Nexus launch activities, accelerating issue resolution, reducing customer-impacting launch issues, and strengthening launch quality processes.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, Program Management, Operations, and supplier-facing teams.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations, launch activities, production readiness, or fast-paced production environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including translating technical findings into clear problem statements, risk assessments, and action plans.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced launch and production environments where priorities evolve rapidly.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform essential duties, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job-related communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting vehicle launches, prototype builds, pilot builds, pre-production builds, validation programs, or SOP activities.
  • Experience supporting new vehicle programs within an OEM environment.
  • Electric vehicle experience, including high-voltage architectures and advanced vehicle systems.
  • Experience working directly with Manufacturing Engineering, NPI, Program Management, Launch, Quality, or Operations organizations.
  • Experience in an automotive manufacturing facility, vehicle assembly plant, or production environment.
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, launch containment, control plans, production readiness reviews, and automotive launch processes.
  • Experience with structured quality and problem-solving methodologies, including 8D, FMEA, DOE, SPC, Fishbone Analysis, Control Plans, and PPAP.
  • Experience supporting multiple vehicle programs through launch and early production phases.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

Responsibilities

  • Support vehicle launch activities across prototype builds, validation programs, pilot builds, pre-production, SOP, and production ramp-up.
  • Partner with Program Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Engineering to identify launch risks, confirm readiness, and support controlled execution.
  • Investigate and diagnose complex vehicle issues across powertrain, electrical, thermal, chassis, body, infotainment, and software-enabled vehicle functions.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, including vehicle diagnostics, data logging, signal validation, component-level inspections, and failure analysis.
  • Reproduce issues on customer, fleet, pilot-build, pre-production, or test vehicles to validate failure conditions and technical findings.
  • Analyze diagnostics, fault codes, service logs, telemetry, and system behavior to determine root causes and support corrective-action planning.
  • Support containment planning, issue escalation, and rapid-response activities during launch and production ramp-up.
  • Translate field findings into clear technical problem statements supported by actionable data and engineering recommendations.
  • Use warranty trends, telematics, manufacturing records, service data, and vehicle-health metrics to identify variability drivers and inform quality and readiness decisions.
  • Manage quality concerns from identification through closure, including replication, data collection, documentation, severity and risk assessment, corrective-action tracking, validation, verification, and confirmation of fix effectiveness.
  • Prioritize and escalate high-risk or high-frequency concerns that could affect customer experience; support reductions in downtime, repeat repairs, quality escapes, and service complexity.
  • Lead or support structured root-cause investigations involving vehicle hardware, software, manufacturing, supplier, process, or integration concerns, and distinguish among potential failure sources.
  • Partner with Engineering to develop, validate, and confirm corrective actions.
