About The Position

The Sr. Java Developer supports POS applications for Luxottica Retail brands (e.g., LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut). Responsibilities include designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting software using Agile or Waterfall methodologies. The role delivers technical solutions, proposes designs aligned with architecture standards, and works across multiple technologies. It includes collaborating with business partners, solving technical issues, recommending system improvements, and providing expertise for large‑scale development tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years Java development experience; retail/insurance experience a plus.
  • Strong OOP and design principles knowledge.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure (API Gateway, DevOps, AKS).
  • SQL/NoSQL (Oracle, MongoDB).
  • REST API development using Java/Spring Boot.
  • Experience with a modern JavaScript framework (React, Angular, Vue).
  • Linux and shell scripting familiarity.
  • Strong teamwork, problem‑solving, communication, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work non‑business hours when needed; ability to collaborate globally.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI‑assisted development tools.
  • Messaging systems (Kafka, Azure Event Hub).
  • UI development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSP.
  • Spring frameworks: Core, MVC, Web Flow, Security, Tiles.
  • JUnit/unit testing, XML schema validation.
  • Maven, Git, Apache HTTP Server.
  • Monitoring tools: Azure Monitor, App Insights, New Relic, Splunk.
  • Mobile development (Android preferred).
  • Agile and/or Waterfall experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of cross‑functional, multi‑platform applications.
  • Perform complex programming: coding, unit testing, debugging.
  • Collaborate with business, architects, and technical teams to define requirements and priorities.
  • Manage system processes, enhancements, and ensure adherence to best practices and architectural standards.
  • Follow SDLC processes and contribute to project planning and estimation.
  • Analyze and document data needs, workflows, system interfaces, and outputs.
  • Support new business capabilities and system issue resolution.
  • Enforce standards: architecture, coding, security, configuration management.
  • Evaluate feasibility, costs, timelines, and integration with existing systems.
  • Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability targets are met.
  • Coordinate development, testing, implementation, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform root‑cause analysis.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for cloud applications.
  • Participate in code reviews and create technical documentation.
  • Improve deployment/release processes with development and operations teams.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and perform security remediation.
