About The Position

The Sr. Java Developer supports POS applications for Luxottica Retail brands, including LensCrafters and Sunglass Hut. The role involves designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting software using Agile or Waterfall methodologies. The developer delivers technical solutions, proposes designs aligned with architecture standards, works across multiple technologies, collaborates with business partners, resolves technical issues, recommends system improvements, and provides expertise for large-scale development tasks.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
At least 5 years of Java development experience.
Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and design principles.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure (API Gateway, DevOps, AKS).
Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, including Oracle and MongoDB.
Experience developing REST APIs using Java/Spring Boot.
Experience with a modern JavaScript framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.
Familiarity with Linux and shell scripting.
Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills, and ability to work under pressure.
Flexibility to work outside business hours when needed and ability to collaborate globally.

Nice To Haves

Retail or insurance experience.
Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka or Azure Event Hub.
UI development experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or JSP.
Experience with Spring frameworks, including Core, MVC, Web Flow, Security, or Tiles.
Experience with JUnit/unit testing and XML schema validation.
Experience with Maven, Git, or Apache HTTP Server.
Experience with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, App Insights, New Relic, or Splunk.
Mobile development experience, preferably Android.
Agile and/or Waterfall experience.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform applications.
Perform complex programming, including coding, unit testing, and debugging.
Collaborate with business partners, architects, and technical teams to define requirements and priorities.
Manage system processes and enhancements, ensuring adherence to best practices and architectural standards.
Follow SDLC processes and contribute to project planning and estimation.
Analyze and document data needs, workflows, system interfaces, and outputs.
Support new business capabilities and resolve system issues.
Enforce architecture, coding, security, and configuration management standards.
Evaluate feasibility, costs, timelines, and integration with existing systems.
Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability targets are met.
Coordinate development, testing, implementation, and documentation.
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for cloud applications.
Participate in code reviews and create technical documentation.
Improve deployment and release processes with development and operations teams.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and perform security remediation.
