Sr. Java Developer
About The Position
Leidos is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join the Intel Security Sector's Analysis Solutions Business Area in Bethesda, Maryland. The role supports Agile development, operations, and maintenance of mission-critical systems within a DevOps framework. The successful candidate will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including scope definition and work estimation, design, coding, and unit testing. The developer will help build, enhance, and maintain high-performance software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional Agile teams to address complex customer requirements. Work includes developing Java and Spring-based backend microservices, testing and automation, cloud-based development, Agile delivery following Program SAFe practices, and deploying build artifacts across environments with DevOps tools. Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance.
Requirements
- Must possess an active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.
- Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and software development practices.
- Familiarity with Java-based design patterns and implementing RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with integrating and delivering software solutions within DevOps toolsets and practices.
- Familiarity with development in commercial cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, and leveraging cloud data services such as S3, RDS, or EFS.
- Familiarity with version control systems and issue/problem tracking systems.
- Bachelor's degree with 8 or more years of prior relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6 or more years of relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with the Spring Framework, microservices architecture, and integration with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Direct experience using software testing and performance tools such as JUnit, and scripting languages including Python and Bash, within an Agile development environment.
- Experience with SAFe development practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend microservices using Java and the Spring Framework.
- Participate in software programming initiatives and conduct code reviews to support reliable, high-quality software delivery.
- Develop software system validation and testing methods using JUnit and Katalon, supporting automated deployment technologies.
- Develop, prototype, and deploy solutions within a cloud-based platform using available platform services.
- Support the Agile software development lifecycle following Program SAFe practices, coordinating with team members, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to align User Stories and implement customer use cases.
- Document and perform systems software development activities, including deploying build artifacts across environments using GitFlow constructs and DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Python, and Bash.
- Apply and identify software development best practices and standard operating procedures to create solutions addressing customers' technical needs.
