Sr. Java Developer
About The Position
Leidos is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer for its Intel Security Sector's Analysis Solutions Business Area in Bethesda, Maryland. The role supports the Agile development, operations, and maintenance of mission-critical systems within a DevOps framework. The developer contributes throughout the software development lifecycle, including scope definition, work estimation, design, coding, and unit testing, and works with cross-functional Agile teams to address complex customer requirements. The work supports national security missions. The position focuses on developing, enhancing, and maintaining high-performance software solutions, including scalable Java and Spring Framework backend microservices. The developer collaborates with team members, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters under Program SAFe practices, and helps deliver and deploy software across environments using DevOps tools and practices. Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.
Requirements
- Must possess an active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.
- Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and software development practices.
- Familiarity with Java-based design patterns and implementing RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with integrating and delivering software solutions using DevOps toolsets and practices.
- Familiarity with development in commercial cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, and cloud data services such as S3, RDS, or EFS.
- Familiarity with version control systems and issue/problem tracking systems.
- Bachelor's degree and 8 or more years of prior relevant experience, or a Master's degree and 6 or more years of relevant experience. Additional years of experience may substitute for a degree.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with the Spring Framework, microservices architecture, and integration with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Direct experience using software testing and performance tools such as JUnit, and scripting languages including Python and Bash, in an Agile development environment.
- Experience with SAFe development practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend microservices using Java and the Spring Framework.
- Participate in software programming initiatives and conduct code reviews.
- Develop system validation and testing methods using JUnit and Katalon, supporting automated deployment technologies.
- Develop, prototype, and deploy solutions in a cloud-based platform using available platform services.
- Work within the Agile software development lifecycle and Program SAFe practices, coordinating with team members, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to align User Stories and implement customer use cases.
- Document and perform software development activities, including deploying build artifacts across environments using GitFlow, GitHub, Jenkins, and scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
- Identify and apply software development best practices and standard operating procedures to create solutions for customer technical needs.
