Summary HII Mission Technologies Division is seeking a Senior Combat Training Systems Test Engineer to work on a team executing integration efforts on the Modeling, Simulation, and Training environment at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis (JITTC-N), Nellis AFB, NV to support the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center, Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) team. This position is part of a team that provides on-site Modeling and Simulation (M&S) support to establish and deliver high-end Advanced Tactics, Training, and Test capability for Government personnel operating under USAFWC/ACC.

Requirements

9 year relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Master in related field; 4 years’ experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 year relevant experience.
Knowledge and/or experience with DoD test methodologies and data analysis, such as Design of Experiments (DOE).
Initiative and strong work ethic to work independently, or with a team, to solve challenging problems in a development and prototyping environment.
Rapid and effective problem solving: identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex problems.
Excellent communication skills to document, develop, and present technical issues so that stakeholders across the organization readily understand the content and their related actions.
Schedule performance: influencing and collaborating across the organization to result in contract schedule success
Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Must have had a current or active DOD Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months.
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD TS/SCI and relevant SAP/SAR Clearance.
Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Man-In-The-Loop (MITL) military flight simulators is highly desired.
Knowledge and/or experience working on software and programming/scripting languages in the Red Hat Linux environments, such as C and C++, is highly desired.
Experience with Air Force’s 5th Generation mission systems is highly desired.
Experience as weapon system Flight Test Pilot, Test Conductor/Director, Engineer, or Weapons School SME is desired.
Demonstrated skills and experience with military aviation hardware and software development, integration, testing, and sustainment is desired.
Candidates with computer science, engineering, or equivalent technical degree is desired.
Candidates with leadership/mentorship experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Daily managing of test teams in support of 31st Combat Training Squadron’s Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) training systems located at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.
Support the JSE engineering group on prioritizing and executing test objectives required for operational readiness of various flight simulator platforms with associated mission debrief systems.
Plan, execute, analyze, and report component and system-level testing on JSE software components to sustain JSE Man-in-the-loop (MITL) training devices with special focus on maintaining highest levels effectiveness and reliability standards.
Collect, maintain, and analyze simulated weapons system test data for reports and documentation.
Recommend changes and updates to flight simulators and support equipment as required.
Perform required readiness checks on flight simulation equipment and instruments.
Conduct and document preventative maintenance tests and checks required for simulator and support equipment.
Assist in troubleshooting, testing, and documentation of malfunctions of simulators and mission debrief equipment.
Assist with installation and check-out of simulator and support equipment modifications.
Develop, modify, and utilize engineering drawings/designs, test cards, and test tools.
Apply comprehensive knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting technical manuals or similar documents.
Support real-time simulation development and Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing.
Support peer reviews of simulation models, analysis tools, and other software modules as required.
Develop test methods and implement simulation software test tools, methods, and other automated test scripts as required.
Facilitate rapid resolution of identified issues that impact operations thorough communication with task leads, program management, and other leadership as required.
Collaborate daily with System Administrators, Engineers, Field Technicians, and customer engineering and project management teams.
Support development of simulation and analysis related data briefings and deliverables to engineering teams, program manager, and government customers as required.
Create test procedures and test reports from collected test data to identify issues and submit deficiency reports (DRs) to relevant SMEs to find solutions and future improvements.
Perform other engineering test duties as required.
