About The Position

The Test & Evaluation Engineer supports Test and Evaluation (T&E) of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) AEGIS surface ships and weapons systems for the Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare System (PEO IWS). The work contributes to at-sea testing of new construction and modernized AEGIS combat systems and ships for U.S. Navy international partners. The position is performed on site at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC, and includes occasional to frequent travel to FMS countries, U.S. test ranges, and U.S. warfare centers. Travel may be required up to 25%. The engineer provides senior-level technical and engineering support to the Test Officer, including support for FMS test budgets in the millions of dollars. Duties involve coordinating budgets with field activities and statements of work, identifying deliverables and milestones, and coordinating support across groups to ensure requirements are identified and funded. The engineer also supports the testing process by understanding system capabilities, identifying at-sea test requirements, translating capabilities and requirements into test objectives, using the Planning, Execution, Analysis, and Reporting (PEAR) process to develop test scenarios, validating required resources, advising the test execution team, and ensuring data collection and analysis plans support reporting needs. The role requires coordination across a distributed team and multiple time zones, managing the PEAR process across government and contractor support activities, communicating requirements, and following up on deliverables. The engineer communicates ideas to engineers, managers, and foreign customers and may represent the Test Officer in planning meetings. This requires technical knowledge of the AEGIS combat system, firsthand knowledge of the Test Officer's position on issues, and ongoing communication with stakeholders and warfare centers. Work combines independent tasks and collaboration with support organizations.
