About The Position

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is hiring a systems engineer to support test and evaluation, systems integration, verification and validation, and technical program activities for Department of Homeland Security and other national security missions. The role works with multidisciplinary teams to plan, coordinate, execute, and document technical efforts that assess emerging technologies and support their transition into operational environments. Projects may address border security, critical infrastructure protection, detection and screening technologies, situational awareness, emergency response, and other homeland security applications. The engineer helps manage technical activities, competing priorities, risks, issues, schedules, staffing, equipment, and documentation across complex projects. The position also includes designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining software for instrument control, user interfaces, data acquisition, and technical analysis workflows, in collaboration with scientists and engineers. The role is based in Richland, Washington and requires an onsite presence. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and meet federal background-investigation eligibility requirements. The position is a Testing Designated Position and entails pre-employment and random drug testing.
