About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Test & Evaluation Engineer to support the Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE) Mission Systems Unified TestBed, formerly PEO IWS, with a focus on AEGIS Combat System and Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) modeling and simulation. The position supports Navy mission readiness by ensuring high-fidelity modeling, simulation accuracy, and system performance verification for combat systems deployed across DDG, LHD, LHA, and CVN platforms. The role is based in Washington, DC, with local travel to test sites. The position requires an active Interim Secret clearance to start, the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Annual travel to Japan, South Korea, Australia, or Spain is required, and the employee must have a U.S. passport.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Navy combat systems, including hands-on involvement with AEGIS, SSDS, or related Navy combat system programs.
  • Experience in systems engineering disciplines, including systems-of-systems analysis, combat system performance modeling, system verification and validation, and test planning and execution.
  • Prior exposure to Fleet operations or Navy surface combatants (DDG, LHD, LHA, CVN), including warfare system certification events, live-fire test event support, and Operational Test Readiness (OTR) and Operational Test Direction (OTD) coordination.
  • Experience collaborating with Operational Test & Evaluation Force (OTF) or equivalent test organizations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; an Interim Secret clearance is required to start, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Ability to travel annually to Japan, South Korea, Australia, or Spain.
  • U.S. passport required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with DOORS, Agile/SAFe, configuration management, and data analysis tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, and C++.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Program Office management support for T&E and modeling and simulation activities.
  • Apply advanced modeling techniques and combat system performance modeling to support mission and operational requirements for AEGIS and SSDS.
  • Develop Developmental Tests (DT) from formal requirements for integration into the Unified TestBed.
  • Conduct systems-of-systems analysis, operational assessments, trade studies, test planning and execution, and system verification and validation activities.
  • Analyze test planning documents and establish Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs) aligned with operational performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including Operational Test & Evaluation Force (OTF), to ensure simulation outputs accurately reflect Navy live-fire performance data.
  • Develop tailored TestBed solutions with engineers to address unique Navy requirements.
