SAIC•Washington, DC
•Onsite

About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Test & Evaluation Engineer to support the Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE) Mission Systems Unified TestBed, formerly PEO IWS, with a focus on AEGIS Combat System and Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) Modeling & Simulation. The role supports Navy mission readiness by improving modeling fidelity, simulation accuracy, and performance verification for combat systems deployed across DDG, LHD, LHA, and CVN surface combatants. The position is based in Washington, DC, and includes local travel to test sites as well as required annual travel to Japan, South Korea, Australia, or Spain. An active Interim Secret clearance is required to begin, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and obtain a Top Secret clearance. A US Passport is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Navy combat systems, including hands-on involvement with AEGIS, SSDS, or related Navy combat system programs.
  • Experience in systems engineering disciplines, including systems-of-systems analysis, combat system performance modeling, system verification and validation, and test planning and execution.
  • Prior exposure to Fleet operations or Navy surface combatants (DDG, LHD, LHA, CVN), including warfare system certification events, live-fire test event support, and Operational Test Readiness (OTR) and Operational Test Direction (OTD) coordination.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; Interim Secret clearance is required to start, and the role requires the ability to obtain Top Secret.
  • Ability to travel annually to Japan, South Korea, Australia, or Spain.
  • Must have a US Passport.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with high-fidelity simulation tools and TestBed architectures.
  • Familiarity with DOORS, Agile/SAFe, configuration management, and data analysis tools including MATLAB, Simulink, Python, and C++.
  • Experience collaborating with Operational Test & Evaluation Force (OTF) or equivalent test organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Program Office management support for T&E and modeling and simulation activities.
  • Apply advanced modeling techniques and combat system performance modeling to support AEGIS and SSDS mission and operational requirements.
  • Develop Developmental Tests (DT) from formal requirements for integration into the Unified TestBed.
  • Conduct systems-of-systems analysis, operational assessments, trade studies, test planning and execution, and system verification and validation (V&V).
  • Analyze test planning documents and establish Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs) aligned with operational performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including Operational Test & Evaluation Force (OTF), to ensure simulation outputs accurately reflect Navy live-fire performance data.
  • Develop tailored TestBed solutions with engineers to address unique Navy requirements.
