Sr. Collaboration Engineer
About The Position
The Sr. Collaboration Engineer is part of Workday’s Digital Employee Experience Collaboration team within Business Technology. The team delivers digital experiences for Workday’s global workforce, partnering with business functions to reduce friction and support productivity across a distributed organization. The role delivers and operates enterprise collaboration services across SaaS platforms, including Google Workspace, Slack Enterprise Grid, Microsoft 365/Teams, and other integrated applications. It focuses on operational excellence, automation, AI engineering solutions, modern collaborative workflows, platform migrations, and enterprise integrations. The engineer balances daily operations and customer SLAs across a broad technology environment, communicates with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and supports global operations with handoffs across time zones.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in IT engineering, platform administration, or enterprise systems engineering.
- Hands-on experience or interest in integrating enterprise AI tools and third-party SaaS products with enterprise collaboration stacks.
- Deep administrative expertise with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Vault), Slack Enterprise Grid, and Microsoft 365/Microsoft Teams.
- Proficiency architecting automated workflows and scripts using Python, PowerShell, Google Apps Script, REST APIs, and command-line administration tools such as GAM and Google Admin SDK.
- Experience as an escalation point for complex L3/L4 technical issues, incident management, root cause analysis, and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical work experience.
- Ability to coordinate global operations and maintain daily handoffs across PST and IST time zones for 24x5 coverage.
- Strong drive to automate operations that empower Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams and reduce engineering maintenance overhead.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical business partners and leadership.
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced technology environment while adhering to customer SLAs.
Responsibilities
- Manage, operate, and maintain enterprise collaboration platforms, including Google Workspace, Slack Enterprise Grid, and integrated tools.
- Drive platform migration initiatives, including tenant migrations, Google Workspace optimizations, and file-sharing governance.
- Implement scalable end-to-end automation for high-volume administrative processes and user lifecycles using Python, PowerShell, Google Apps Script, GAM, and Admin SDKs.
- Implement best practices, standards, and governance controls for AI/ML technologies and enterprise automation services.
- Build, test, and implement AI-driven products, features, and processes aligned with the organizational roadmap, with emphasis on end-to-end automation and AI/ML optimization.
- Implement shift-left automation strategies that empower Tier 1 and Tier 2 support and reduce engineering operational load.
- Lead the design, deployment, and operational support of integrations with enterprise AI platforms such as Sana Labs, Glean, and Slack AI.
- Serve as an escalation point for Tier 3 and Tier 4 technical support, resolving complex incident tickets and service requests.
- Monitor system health, uptime, performance indicators, and Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR).
- Coordinate global operations and handoffs across PST and IST time zones to support continuous 24x5 coverage.
- Collaborate with IT engineering and security organizations to ensure compliance with audits and policies.
- Resolve complex issues creatively and effectively using technical experience, professional concepts, and company objectives.
