About The Position

The Spot Weld Operator sets up and operates spot-welding machines or guns. Duties include changing and filing gun tips, adjusting welder settings, programming machines with control buttons, positioning or loading parts into fixtures, and activating the welder. The operator uses a grinder to remove excess weld beads, follows specifications to weld parts accurately, and checks product quality using inspection and measuring equipment. The position also involves entering part and inventory information into an ERP system, performing basic preventative maintenance and repairs, and operating a motorized walking stacker. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Proficient communication skills.
Ability to accurately read and use quality tools and inspection equipment.
Basic math and computer skills.
Ability to operate cranes and overhead hoists.

Responsibilities

Follow safety and environmental procedures.
Come to work every day and on time as scheduled.
Use spot-welding technology and load, set up, and operate spot-welding equipment.
Change and file gun tips, adjust welder settings, and program the machine for the job.
Position parts in the welding tip or load and unload them in a fixture, then activate the welder.
Use a grinder to remove excess weld beads.
Read specifications and use quality tools to ensure parts meet requirements.
Examine welds and inspect parts during the welding process; inspect and green-tag the first piece.
Use inspection and measuring equipment to verify product quality and ensure parts meet standards and specifications.
Enter part and inventory information into the ERP system.
Perform basic preventative maintenance, repairs, and setup to keep the spot welder running smoothly and reduce downtime.
Execute the scheduling board.
Use a motorized walking stacker.
